Hello, I have a Creative Multimedia Upgrade kit (the old one, with a SoundBlaster Pro and a Matsushita CD-ROM). I installed Microsft Encarta the other day. During Setup Encarta tests the system. including CD-ROM, to see if it meets MPC standards. It flagged a "warning" for the CD-ROM drive: it says the CD-ROM is NOT MPC compatible. I've noticed the movies in Encarta are jumpy, so the CD-ROM seems to be to slow, although it ports a MPC logo. I've tried several solutions (new drivers, v2.0, changing drivers in memory, new MCDEX, etc.) to no avail. Any ideas? Jozef (Belgium)

The Encarta movies *are* jumpy. <g> I believe that play at a frame rate of about 8 frames per second, perhaps even less. Encarta was developed before Video for Windows, and does not use that technology — the movies are really some kind of animation. The reason for the low frame rate: to converse disk space. Ron
