In general I would avoid using the 54x cards in an EISA machine – for
performance reasons. You can certainly do it – but the EISA cards will be
faster; and will be able to address any memory you may have above 16 megs
directly.
All the scenarios you describe should work just fine. Some will be more tricky
than others – but all are workable.
