Thanks for your reply. I'm not looking for actual cost estimates, rather I just want to validate my impression that these guys want $15,000 worth of animation for $5,000. Who wouldn't if you could get it, right. Our main client, who is actually my employer (don't ask how this works) is all over our Pubs division – the guys who shot the footage and do post production, and all over us – the CG dept. about cost. Yet they don't provide scripts to anyone until after actual footage has been shot. Thus when we begin work on the product, we find more and more places where there is no tape coverage, hence more animation is needed and my charges go up. We have had a long week, but the result is that I will be providing a more reasonable amout of animation to them (more reasonable for me) and begin saying more things like "sure I can do that, but not for $5,000." I was really looking for a variety of information regarding standard rates so that I could do 2 things: 1) tell myself that I thought these guys were getting a real deal, and 2) tell these guys a range of rates if they wanted to try and contract one of these out somewhere else and try and get it for $5,000. Thanks again for your reply.
