#Installation Woes!

Could someone please check their UNIX installation disks and let me know
if these are valid AmigaDOS format disks ? My recently purchased UNIX came
with two sets of installation disks labeled 3000UX boot ( Installation
disk 1 ) and root file system ( Installation disk 2 ). None of these disks
appears as a valid AmigaDOS disk on the WorkBench or when inspected with
QB tools or AmiBack tools. I have been unable to install UNIX as the
process bombs out after the partitions are made and first access to the
tape is requested. I am taking a shot in the dark that maybe the
installation script is faulty but I really cant check that since the disks
report as not AmigaDOS. Any info would be most appreciated – Thanks
There are two disks. Boot and Root. Boot is a bootable disk it has
enough Amiga format to let it be bootable. Root is not an AmigaDOS disk.
If you get as far as accessing the tape, your disks are obviously working.
Like I said in my mail to you, if you are crapping out as soon as first
access to the tape is requested, you probably need the -08 WD SCSI chip.
What is the error message Unix gives you on trying to access the tape?
Also, is your tape unit 4?

One thing to check for, the Unix installation requires that the HD is at
SCSI ID 6, and the tape drive is ID 4. If you have the tapedrive at some
other ID it would bomb. The 2 disks that come with the Unix distribution
are not AmigaDOS formatted.
