Paul, American is telling people it's a done deal … CEI is telling people that the court turned down the proposal. So, you've got 2 conflicting stories. The kernal of truth here is that CBM UK has received newly manufactured product (1200s) but there isn't much that should be read into that.

Robert, Because I promised not to say, I can't say. Hopefully someone from the UK will see one of these new 1200s and tell us if there is a country of origin tag on them and what it says; then you'll know. However, the where they were manufactured is not that important, it is who paid for it. That could be very important, or it could be no big deal.

Paul: > "…courtesy of American." I stopped using American as an Amiga distributor several months ago because, at that time, I felt they were unknowing and uncaring about the Amiga's market. In fact, they spent most of their time trying to sell me MS-DOS products. According to my partner, they called a few days ago to find out why we were on their "zero order" list. They offered him some "sweet deals" on a bunch of non-Amiga CD-ROM titles, which he refused because he knew my feelings about them. Anyway, my point is that American is NOT a reliable source for Amiga information. I think you can put what they've said in the garbage can on top of some of the other muck we've been hearing. Wayne

Hi Paul, I've been told buy a boss of a software house that CBM UK bought Amigas from CBM France and from an independent distributor who had a few spare. Re. the latter, due to the way the Amigas were moved around CBM UK managed to pay for these particular Amigas twice! Paul (Editor – Amiga Pro)
