Here's the latest from Infoword's Robert X. Cringely…

To throw some more wood on the fire…
My contacts in the UK tell me that CBM UK is still operating fine and that CBM
management in the UK and Germany is still there. UK is very upbeat and say
that there are 5 deals on the table and Samsung is the one CBM wants but if it
falls through, there are others.
UK said that they "had not heard of any May 31 deadline…pure rubbish" and
that things were proceeding accordingly.
They also said that they received *new* Amigas. Not units from a warehouse,
but *new* manufactured units! (I don't know which units or where they came
from, but I was assured that they were *new*.)

The May 30th court date is not rubbish and the deal apparently did not go
through. CBM is looking for an extension to continue negotiating. If
they do not get it, the judge gets to liquidate their assets to the
highest bidder. Apparently, the BIG JERKS are still involved in this
process, screwing things up as much as ever!!! GO AWAY and let the
highest bidder make some darn money.

Is there a newspaper, magazine or reputable business journal that has/will
publish this court-date information? If so, please name {it.

The Wall St. Journal is business' newspaper of record. Commodore stock
represents a very significant loss for the investment community, so it is
likely that any major news in the liquidation process will be carried there.
Normally computer related stuff is in the second section.
I'm also checking The Philadelphia Inquirer and San Jose Mercury News on a
daily basis to catch any news that might appear there. And I'm sure others are
checking other sources as well. One thing to be careful of, though, is people
reporting rumors as "news".

has/will publish ANY news of Commodore, ever?!
Seriously, this information comes from the people actually negotiating
this whole thing and not from some lamer in the UK, France, or Germany who
still thinks CBM is in business :}
Just trying to help…so chill…until formal announcements are made, we
are all in same boat. Some of us just have better contacts than others.
The court date business is WELL known now and has been confirmed by all of
the people I leak to and from :}

Yeah, some of us do have better contacts than others. I do business directly
with Commodore UK and they ARE still operating, and don't expect that to
change.

Commodore UK is a lousy contact. When I worked in engineering, they
repeatedly announced things that engineering was supposedly doing and when
they were supppsedly going to be done (sometimes even that a prototype was
already working). They were full of [explitive deleted].

I have seen the actual paperwork that was filed in the Bahamian (sp?)
Supreme Court. The Court date was May 31st. The document named the
accounting firm who was to do the liquidation and also indicated that
Commodore Electronics, Ltd. was really Commodore International.
As to what happened on the 31st, I haven't a clue.
One source that I have says that Samsung is not interested in building
Amigas but rather getting Commodore's distribution centers in Europe.
Another source tells me that Samsung is no more in the running than any of
the other companies.
Another source says that Commodore did ask for an extension.
The point here is that other than the court date there is no facts to be
found out there. Those who really know are not talking. 🙂

I posted this info a couple of weeks ago, but, here it is again …
Two men, Franklin Wilson and MacGregor Robertson, partners in the
accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, are the trustees. Although both are
partners in Deloitte & Touche, they perform this job as individuals, not
as members of their accounting firm.
