Autodesk Announces AutoVision/RenderPrint Promotion
In-the-Box Offer Provides Omni-Printer Output of Photorealistic Renderings
SAUSALITO, Calif.–June 7, 1994–Autodesk, Inc.'s Multimedia Division today
announced that it will immediately offer a special promotion of AutoVision(TM)
1.0, including a copy of RenderPrint(R) from Insight Development Corporation.
Intended for existing AutoCAD(R) Release 12 customers, the
AutoVision/RenderPrint package provides an omni-printer solution for outputting
photorealistic still renderings of AutoCAD Release 12 files. The suggested
retail price (SRP) of US$595 for this limited-time offer represents a savings
of US$449 off the combined SRPs of AutoVision (US$795) and RenderPrint
(US$249).
The RenderPrint software and manuals will be included in the AutoVision box
from June 1 1994 to September 30 1994. Currently supporting more than 1,200
printers and plotters, RenderPrint can be accessed as a standalone or TSR
(memory-resident) application, or directly within AutoCAD Release 12 via the
Render Hardcopy command under the Render menu. Customers who use other
Autodesk products, including 3D Studio(R) and Animator Pro(R), can use
RenderPrint to produce hard copies of their images without exiting from those
applications.
"The ability to produce hard-copy output of photorealistic still renderings
within AutoCAD makes AutoVision a complete solution for our customers in the
A/E/C, mechanical and product design markets," said Alison Ishimaru, Autodesk's
senior product manager for AutoVision. "Now with the RenderPrint promotional
offer, our customers will be able to easily print their high-quality renderings
on a virtually limitless array of grayscale and color printers."
"Viewing great-looking images on screen is no longer good enough," said Steve
Haber, president of Insight Development. "Users want to print true hardcopy
visualizations of their work and RenderPrint is the first product to provide
this solution."
RenderPrint Features
RenderPrint enables users to print both color and gray-scale images from any
standard graphics file, including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, TGA and TIF formats.
Other features include:
– Image Controls–Choose image brightness, contrast, gamma and dithering;
specify a color border around printed images; control portrait or landscape
orientation; full control of PostScript(TM) images.
– Printer Options–Batch print any number of images in any order; print up to
99 copies of a single image; send output to any printer on a Novell network;
print at any resolution supported by target printer.
– Output Sizing–Output images of any size, from 1" x 1" thumbnails to 5' x
5' posters output on multiple, tiled pages, without adding memory or PostScript
capabilities to your printer.
System Requirements
AutoVision runs within AutoCAD Release 12 software for DOS (386/486) or
Windows, and has the same system requirements as AutoCAD: an IBM(R) or
Compaq(R) 386/486-based computer or 100-percent compatible equipped with MS-
DOS(R) 3.3 or later, 8MB of RAM, a VGA display, a math coprocessor, an AutoCAD-
supported pointing device and one 1.2MB, 5.25-inch floppy-disk drive or one
1.44 MB, 3.5-inch floppy-disk drive. RenderPrint requires no additional
printer memory.
