>Does anyone know anything about Amax now supporting color? yes, ReadySoft released the Amax IV a few months back. for current owners of the Amax II+, you can upgrade to the Amax IV. ReadySoft will send you a new chip and software which is all you need to upgrade. the new Amax IV requires System 7 and an amiga with 4 megs of ram (2 megs must be free). new features include multitasking with amiga programs in the background (the amax no longer takes over your amiga) and color (16 colors on an ECS machine, 256 on an AGA machine). the Amax IV also supports 24bit video cards such as the Picasso II. without a 24bit card, color displays will be very slow. also you really need 8 megs or more or ram or else the amax will be pretty slow. if you can spare the extra money, i would suggest buying an emplant instead of upgrading an Amax II+. UU seems to provide more support than ReadySoft, esp since UU distributes their software online. The Amax IV also seems to be pretty buggy when it comes to handling CD-ROM drives. bob 🙂 – on AutoPilot via Columbus, Ohio
