I appreciate your help. Unfortunately, I've already ordered the
ATVista, DQ-422, a Sierra Video Systems transcoder AND the PAR (with TBC IV and
2210A.) I should have waited a little longer – gotten more info. I planned to
use the PAR as a previewer in oder to reduce the wear an tear on the UVW-1800.
I'll try your method before using the ATVista, DQ-422 and transcoder. Maybe I
can find someone who is interested in buying them from me.
I have been using 3DS for a little better than 2 years with no output
other than a VideoVGA. I guess I got over-excited when I got the $$$ to buy
some REAL equipment. There is little in the way of knowledgable dealers in
South Carolina (or the southeast for that matter.) The dealer I found in Tampa
didn't tell me anything about outputting From the PAR directly to tape. Having
seen the Visual Circuits VTV-2000 and other boards like it, I figured that the
PAR was like them – O.K. for previewing, but useless for acceptablee output to
tape.
Concerning your recommendation on the remote jog shuttle, is this an
option for the tape deck? Thanks for your help

The remote jog shuttle is the SVRM-100. I use it for precise deck control
primarily with the PAR as I have regular edit controllers for normal editing.
The UVW-1800 is very limited in transport functions from its front panel.
The only unnecessary piece in your purchase was the DQ-422 which you could have
used the $$ better for IPAS modules etc. to enhance your capabilities. I would
say once you experience the PAR to the UVW you won't want to waste the time nor
wear and tear on your deck to use the DQ422 frame by frame. I'd try to return
it.
