#Multiple Morph Targets?
3 messages in this thread
I understand 3D morphs in lightwave. What are multiple morph targets? My
guess is that you have the original object, and morph targets a, b, c, and d.
morph target a has b as its target, b has c as its, and c has d. So depending
on where you set the metamorph levels you can morph from the original to any
one of the four targets. Is this correct? What are the more important uses of
this technique?
Thanks, Bruce
Bruce,
You are correct. LW3.1 allows up to 40 Morph targets.
The reason you would use multiple morphs are varied, but some include:
Talking mouths and objects that need to morph along curved paths. Since
morphs are linear movement of points, you would need multiple tat\rgets to
simulate a caterpillar curling up into a ball for instance.
Also remember that Morph Surfaces only works between the source and the
first target. If you need to change surfaces more, you would need to set
up dissolve envelopes that would coincide with morph envelopes for
multiple objects each with its own morph. Does that make sense?

John,
I had to run through that last paragraph a few times, but yes it made
perfect sense.
Thanks! Bruce
