First, that file is not on GVP's BBS. Second, the latest version of SETPATCH
that we have is 40.14, and that has worked successfully in all machines in
which it was tested. All previous versions of SETPATCH (from ADOS 2.0 and
higher) have worked. Have you contacted Utilities Unlimited regarding the
scanner problem?

Oupsss… I think that I have downloaded the SetPatch utility in the A2K_040
file ! ( last disk for install GVP 040 ) downloaed from GVP BBS 😉 I have also
some problems with the serial part ( this is not an Emplant pb ) I need to
reboot the computer to use it, with only the power-up the serial doesnot work.
If I reboot ( ctrl-Amiga-Amiga ) it works fine ! Bye
I'm having the same problem as you are with the serial port on my Gforce 040.
Sometimes I have to reboot 3 or 4 times to get it to work. I never had that
problem with my I/O Extender serial port. It's pretty frustrating..any answer

RE: SETPATCH problem
I also had this problem, the solution from GVP was to put the GVPCPUCTRL
command line before setpatch in the startup-sequence. It works fine now..at
least most of the time. I still get some strange crashes on startup once in
awhile.
The system also freezes up sometimes for no reason. ????

I'm having the same problem with the serial port on my GForce 040. I sometimes

The GVP G-Force 040 for A2000B seems to works as it wants … :-/ I have the
followings results : – working ( sometimes 🙂 – guru during boot – hang during
startup ( executing GVPCpuCtrl or Assign (???? ) or Echo (!!! )) – serial port
not responding ( now this happen during retry of dialing too ! )
I have re-read the manual. I doesn't understand the value of jumper J22 : Page
9 it must be close to not enable the burst mode for less of 16Mb Page 13 second
paragraph : If all four sockets are filled, jumper J22 can be closed ( shorted
), allowing the 68040 to operate in Burst mode. Is it the oposite, isn't it ? (
sorry my english is very bad ). My jumper is closed ;: I have only 12Mb but I
ordered another simm today. It is very hard to make this card working. The
Retina card have also a problem with it : the user must reboot many times
before it works, else the computer crashs. Is it possible that some roms on the
card must be updated ? If a GVP tech can reply… I hope that our problems will
be solved soon 🙂 ( I'll try to move the GVPCpuCtrl before Setpatch tomorrow )
Oh I have forgot : now when the computer hang during startup sometimes the
drive DH0: is not validated… 🙁 Thanks.
