#TV PRO E Paint prog!?

I have orderd a TrueVista PRO E card and are wondering if there is someone
who has made any paintprogram that uses the speed and facilityes on the
card? I was thinking in directions of Timearts Lumena for the ATVista? I
have heard some rumors that Timearts have had some problem and will propobly
not be doing it for the new card, but I don't know?
When cituated in north Europe news is history when it gets to us 🙂

I just ordered the latest version of RIO by ATT. In the past it was geared
toward use with the Truevision frame buffers. This is not a paint program but
an image composition program similar to Altamira's Composer. I mention it
because it is currently being given away FREE to the first 50,000 respondents
for a 30-day trial period. Its $99.00 US if you decide to keep it. The number
to call is 1-800-896-6544. There is no conventional phone number listed in the
ad but if you can get your hands on a copy of Computer Pictures or
Presentations magazine (I'm sure the ad is in other mags as well) you could
send in the info card at least. I figured you could get in on the ground floor
on this offer.
As far as paint programs other than Lumena you could try TIPS but I don't know
much about it or even if it is still made. Something tells me Ron Scott's
HI-RESQFX (something like that) may be worth a look. Others on the forum use
this and could help you out better than I.

Yeah, Time Arts is supposedly in bamkruptcy, so I don't know what (if
any) operations are going on. Ron Scott's Hi-Res QFX 4.0 ships for the

supposedly? My last news was about they being absolutely dead. It is sad to see
how the big guys fall because a "failure" in marketing assumptions 🙁

What do you mean failure of marketing assumptions. Althoug Lumena is an
exellent paint package it was doomed by a lousy user interface and no growth.
It was a victim of the windows kraze. Time Arts put all of it's resources into
developing a good SGI paint package. it is a shame that they did not sell
enough to stay alive.

What I mean is that they didn't care about Windows and this was their error.
They think that the windows market was not a good target market. Lumena was a
good candidate to get into the Windoze "revolution", getting a new interface
and a new price (just before the guys at Fractal thought about getting Painter
from the Mac to Windows). They thought that people were going to stay with the
same DOS package for the end of time. Bad move, bad expansion strategy, bad
marketing assumptions.

As I sure you already know the TrueVista EISA Pro is not compatible with
existing VISTA board so any applications written for the VISTA will not run on
the TrueVista. In other words the TrueVista is not a true VISTA.
People have suggested the following products that do NOT work with the
TrueVista EISA Pro:
TIPS
LUMENA
RIO
To find a good solution you will have to look to the video products people. For
example I know Pinnacle is developing a paint package for this frame buffer.
Problem is that it will be extremely expensive.
