Hello, I just saw a demo of topas pro 5.0 and they have a couple great new features I'm sure you've all heard about. Add perpective from backround images on your 3d objects and then add appropriate shadows !!! This would be terriffic, also do you have any suggestions on adding shadows now, possibly in vpost. One more thing are there any conversion-utility programs for converting FLC's to any MAC animation formats. Thanks, John

Those are currently on the wishlist (note that IPAS is going to handle most of that stuff). Re conversion programs… try Debabelizer on the Mac. – G

>>I just saw a demo of topas pro 5.0 and<< >> they have a couple great new features<< One other neat little feature on that program (I'm sure you've seen this, probably a long time before I did, but anyway…) is the ability to create some fairly good fake refractions. The technique, as I saw it described, was to create a cubic environment map around the refractive object, and then just bend the eye-ray into this map as it exits the refractive object. Not perfect, but close enough… Maybe this could be simulated by 3DS now, but I bet it takes a lot of steps! Jim
