Help!
I've got a tech problem and hope someone here can help me solve it. I have a
A2000 Toaster, PAR card, TBC IV, GVP 040, and some extra memory. Everything
works great, except for horizontal lines that roll up and down the screen
occasionally. This is accompanied with a higher-pitched whining noise…I have
replaced evrything, and put in a Big Foot power supply…anyone got any ideas?

Dave, Your monitor is coming unlocked (and whining) when those horizontal lines
appear. The big question is why this is happening. When does it happen? When
you're running Toaster? What kind of monitor are you using? A single-scan,
fixed-frequency unit? Or a multi-scan unit?
For whatever reason, the H sync is going away or getting wimpy on you.

Thanks for the response. I don't think it's from the monitor, becasue it
appears on both the video output montior hooked up to the Toaster, and the Amga
monitor. I'm using a 1084S for the AMiga, and a 2002 for video output. The
'whining' noise is comig from the Amiga itself, I'm pretty sure… It's as if
the drive is running offspeed or someting. I've replaced the Toaster, the GVP
040 card, and swapped out hard drives…any ideas?

Wellll, it could be that the Toaster is not getting a good lock onto the input
1 reference. As a test, remove input 1 altogether and then start Toaster.
Does your system lock properly as viewed on both monitors? If the displays are
still a-hoppin' and a-skippin', the only thing left is the Amiga itself.
It could be that the Amiga video display chip (Denise in the A2000) isn't
tracking the H- and V-sync signals being sent in by the Toaster.

I think I have find the problem! I think the whole system is overheating. I
have removed the 5.25 bay access door, and have directed a fan blowing into the
box. I have not had the the problem since. I think the whole box might be
overheating with all the gear, and the fan on the power supply is not enough. I
am now thinking about cutting a hole for the fan on the side. (I hate to even
think about cutting the cover, but what else can I do?) Anyway, thanks for your
help, and I keep you posted.
