Call Expert Services at 606-371-9690. As of yesterday, they received licensing from Commodore Germany to sell 3.1 in the U. S. for 2, 3 & 4000 systems. $125 + shipping for A2000 roms, manuals and software; $150 for the others. Hope this helps. Joe Clarkson

What about us poor folks with A500s? -Pat "Cruising the North Coast on Autopilot"

I believe the 2000 means all the single rom units like 500,600,2000, 2500 etc. 3/4000 prices refer to all dual rom units. Call Expert Services to make sure. Joe Clarkson

Is there anywhere I can go to read a summary of the differences between 3.0 and 3.1. I'd have to see some significant improvements to spend that much money to upgrade my 4000. Thanks, Karl

Karl – I agree with your thrust. <Is there anywhere I can read a summary of differences between 3.0 and 3.1 . . to spend that much money . .> I wish there was. I asked DL (IAM) to provide such a list between 2.1 and 3.1 but received no reply. From the various comments in these forums I'm assumming 3.1 is a major upgrade from 2.1; a debugging of 3.0 plus CDRom FS. All of the 3.1 beta testers have "restrained" from telling anything but now that 3.1 is legally released I don't understand their continued reluctance. Expert Services – if they are listening – could maybe help? It is not immoral or illegal to advertise your product. We all could use some valid data. Anyone – more info please!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry if I missed your question earlier. No one is reluctant to answer your question, we just don't have such a list. We've posted the things we remember in AmigaUser. You have to understand: registered developers are usually using an early version of the next OS release before you see the current OS release on the shelf. For example, 2.1 was well under way by the time a 2.04 enhancer kit became available, and 3.0 well before a 2.1 enchancer kit. When you ask us to create a list of difference between 2.1 and 3.1, you're asking us to remember what we had in the OS we were using more than three years ago and what has been added since then. Besides CDROM, there is DataTypes and MultiView and who knows what else. Dale L. Larson, Intangible Assets Manufacturing "Are you f'ing crazy?" "No, I'm just marking my territory." – Wolf

>When you ask us to create a list of difference between 2.1 and 3.1, you're asking us to remember what we had in the OS we were using more than three years ago and what has been added since then.< ??? Is the AmigaOS not documented??? Why is it so difficult (to document it)??? Can we know what we're going to buy??? Many people are asking just what theyre going to buy! THAT list should be available. >Is the Amiga OS not documented??? Going through the hundreds of pages of 2.1 docs (which I don't have a copy of) and the 3.1 docs and comparing them for diffences isn't very practical. Come on! >Can we know what we're going to buy??? If you want to know what you are buying, talk to who ever is selling it. If you depend on the benevolence of people on the net to try to answer your questions, don't complain when they don't have every detail of every answer to every question. Dale L. >Going through the hundreds of pages of 2.1 docs (which I don't have a copy of) and the 3.1 docs and comparing them for diffences isn't very practical. Come on!< I didn't mean that! Docs change because the software changes. Software improvements are made on purpose. Anyway, there is a missing link, because the improvements from 2.1 to 3.0 are missing, specially for millions of nonAGA users. You are the only one that answers many questions. I'm not blaming you at all! As many of us know, the Amy has been sold without any kind of marketing support. If I have to convince a friend that purchased an Amiga following my personal advice several years ago, I should be able to explain him (or her) what he (or she) is going to have in addition, improved, and so on. I should be able to give several reasons to upgrade. Not every AmyUser is logging onto CI$. Even the ones that do, we do not have an even approximate idea about the imorovements made! >don't complain when they don't have every detail of every answer to every question.< Dale, you are one of the most active, helpful and expert persons that give us advice on CI$. You are NOT guilty at at of C= mismanagement. But OS improvements are not minor details. They affect to every AmigaUser. It seemed that with your involvment on C= in the past, you could give those details. If they don't exist, you cannot invent them. I hope somebody could give us some light about this subject. Anyway, I'm going to upgrade. I did it with from 2.04 to 2.1, so why not now? Rafa <Motorola Inside> …via AutoPilot 1.72 from Berlin
