Well Betty, the two printers that are tops in my book for the Amiga, are the Canon BJC-600, (comparable to an HP 550C, except better printing, decent color printing, fantastic any-color text printing, low cost per page,) and the Fargo Primera, (better color printing, dye-sub option, not good for text, and high cost per page.) I don't know if the GS has a driver for either of these though… btw, I own the BJC-600, and use it with both my PC and my Amiga. I am extremely impressed with the quality and ruggedness of it! Betty: You say that your friend is an Art teacher. Under the assumption that she would want to be able to print color I would say that as far as the Amiga goes, the printer to get is the Fargo Primera. I don't know if it will work on the GS or not, but you could call Fargo and ask them. Unfortunately I don't have their number handy, but it is an 800 number so you should be able to call 800-555-1212 to get the number. I also have their photo-realistic upgrade, and all I can say about it is WOW! I've owned an HP PaintJet, and seen the output of the DeskJet 550C, and I would have to say that in the Primera's standard wax transfer printing it's about as nice as either HP, possibly nicer considering that the HPs tend to 'band' after a while, that is you can see where the lines are made by the printhead, whereas the Primera doesn't have that problem, and I've printed a couple of k of prints thru mine already. You can use most laser paper thru the Primera and get good results, and they also sell their own paper as well, and I find that their paper does print a little nicer than laserprint paper, so I use it. // -Mike Schiller \X/ AMIGA!
