#A2630 help
4 messages in this thread
Would anyone be able to tell me how a A2630 board stacks up to any of the
other accelerators out on the market? The reason I am asking is because I have
an opportunity to purchase one of these boards (25 Mhz 68030 w/ 25 Mhz 68882
and MMU w/2 megs 32 bit RAM) used for $250.00 – is this a good deal or should I
be seeking less? The main reason I ask is because I have seen the VXL 30
accelerator for sale, brand new, 2 megs, for $249 – no FPU though, but it IS
brand new ( see DeVine ads in Amiga World). Can anyone help me? I'd certainly
appreciate it! By the way, the othere reason the VXL seems so cheap is because
I have been told that you can supply it with 2 megs OR 8 megs on the board –
and that's the only configuration possible.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'd say buy it. Then populate it with as much 32 bit RAM as possible. Of
course I know nothing about the A2630, but compared to what I paid, in
pieces, to get my A2000 up to '030/'882/40mhz/8Meg(32 bit) with a CSA-MMR
that sounds pretty reasonable.

It sounded pretty good to me as well. Thanks for the input!

Works well for me, I have one as the integral part of an A2500. The board
takes 4 meg 32bit RAM max – these have to be soldered on (I'm told) I
have 4 meg on mine and a DKB daughterboard which can take up to 112meg
32bit simms – having a little problem matching the boards though at the
moment.
