68060 accelerator-A4000
13 messages in this thread
Advanced Systems & Software announces their newest addition to the Amiga
community, despite Commodore's departure. The only 68060 accelerator available
and announced for the A4000. This is not vapor ware, we have it running at 82
MIPs, to be faster by release in August and 28 MFLOPS. Compare that to a stock
A4000 that runs at 28 MIPs and 16 MFLOPs. As one reviewer said when he saw it
in Europe, "I have seen the future." In addition to this accelerator will be a
module that attaches containing a FAST SCSI-II interface, high speed serial
ports and Ethernet controller. Enter the future NOW.

Advanced Systems,
I have a couple of Amigas 4000, one I just purchased yesterday. It does not
have a processor or RAM as I was thinking of buying WARP Engine or possibly
ECALIBUR to be able to use it as a rendering machine. However, the WARP is
expensive. How does your accellerator compare in role, features, performance
and price to the WARM. (I will be going on vacation Thursday morning so I hope
you can respond before then. If not I will find out when I return.By the way, I
am in Toronto; will it be possible to easily get your accellerator if it turns
out to be useful and obtain warranty/service/installation assistance. I should
say I also have a staff person at SIGRAPH in Florida should there be any demos
or persons from your company there.
Thanks.

Michael: The Warp and the Excalibur will not work with the Fastlane Z3. Both
of these companies have known this well before they released their boards.
Both have design problems that prevent them from working. Our accelerator, the
CyberStorm will work with the Fastlane. You may grab a file in our library
section in the Amiga Vendor's forum that tells more detail about the CyberStorm
and other products.
This is an encouraging development. I am going to check out your vendor lib
stuff
and talk to my dealer about using this to help with those ugly rendering jobs.
Does
the '60 permit parallel processing and do you have any plans to take advantage
of it if so ?
They're working on it. Probably
hi there,
as cyberstorm comes as a full board-configuration (doesnt it?), might it be
possible, that we dont need commodore no longer??

Richard, a Cyberstorm without an A3000/A4000 is like a Ferrari V12 without
a chassis and drivetrain.

A friendly little worm in the Big Rotten Apple …
We will "always" need Commodore. It keeps things interesting.
How does it look for the release dates of the A4000/060 and A3000/060
accelerators? I have a A3000 and am VERY interested in getting a 060.
I already got the text file announcements, I am now just playing the
waiting game.
<<< Tony D. Tracer >>>
(Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)
Ditto!! (btw, WHERE is the text file- I've looked in the lib, but can't
seem to find it)
Mike
It's in the AmigaVend forum.
