#Output on Monitor
5 messages in this thread
To increase my knowledge I'd like the estimable members of this forum that
always kept me so productive to point me to some stuff concerning the
following:
Seems that all of the boards and things for showing animation and video with a
computer (like the PAR, the Movie Machine and Fast's latest F60) is designed
and optimized for output rather on a TV-screen than on a computer monitor.
Unfortunately we're not in TV business but in desktop multimedia. That means in
order to provide full interactivity we need some stuff to present animation and
video on a computer monitor. Of course we want best quality at biggest possible
size and original framerates.
So anybody who's struck by similar necessities is welcome to the discussion.
Tell me about your experiences and I'll tell you ours.

Look for a GLiNT graphics accellerator or other likewise polygon processor in
combo with something like Renderware in the near future (if not already
available.) I haven't used this stuff, but it promises to be the boon of VR
and interactive multimedia "real soon now".

Thanks James,
do you know some manufacturers of boards with these chips?

If you're dealing with animations that are already recorded on hard drive or
CD, Matrox's Marvel II PCI will play back full-screen VHS quality at 30 fps,
with audio, do video-in-a-window, and realtime frame capture. It's tailored for
the interactive, POS, training application market.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
