I have Win95 installed on my machine and cannot run Animator Studio v.1.0. I receive a message: "OLE 2.0 initialization failed. Make sure the OLE libraries are the correct version." Is there a workaround or beta fix available? I am working on a time critical project and wish to use this upgrade to Animator Pro. Thanks. Paul Cunningham 71333,1507

Sorry Paul, Win95 is still in Beta and Autodesk does not currently support it. The only work around is to run Animator Studio in Windows 3.1. Jh

Too bad. I understand that it is difficult/impossible to support unreleased products. Win95 looks very promising, especially in terms of video speed. Please contact me as soon as you have something beta/whatever that might help here. Thanks. Paul

I don't know where your programmers went to school, but yours is one of the few apps that "does not support Win95" and actually does not work. Most work anyway. Premiere, Photoshop, Director, you name it. What's up, guys? Get it together. Win95 is solid enough to begin working on. Reggie

I second that vote. With 40,000 copies sold out in less then two days of a final beta release it seems to reason that releasing a Windows app at this time should probably be compatible. There appears to just be an OLE library conflict of some type. I understand that you can't support all unreleased OS's but hey this is where your new program is going to have to be in the very near future. If this conflict is something simple could we maybe get some help on it. –Thanks

I can handle not working with Win95, since I only run NT 3.5.

Tim, << AniStudio doesn't work with Win95? What about NT 3.5? I can handle not working with Win95, since I only run NT 3.5. >> I don't know about Win95 but I do know that AAS will not run with NT. Mark

I've tried 4 seperate (Pentium) machines running NT 3.5, and 2 machines running the latest 95 beta, and NONE of them seem to want to run it. It actually COMPLETELY locks up NT. Strange….. surely there'll be a quick fix for this, though… I'm praying.

I have also tried Animator Studio on Win95/Final Beta and Windows NT. It runs, but does not save FLC/FLI files on Windows-95 (OLE error). ItLOCKS UP on Windows-NT 3.5. I always thought of Animator Pro, therefore Animator Studio as a companion (and in some ways a post production) program to 3D Studio. If 3D Studio R5 is going to be 3D Studio/NT [my label] it would seem to me that Animator Studio should work on NT also if it is to be used in conjunction with 3D Studio. My temporary solution was to ALSO install Windows 3.1 on the same machine with Windows-95 and run Animator Studio from that. I have found it works with Windows 3.1 AND WFW 3.11. I deleted the 3.1 FIle manager. It would not be good to REMOVE or MOVE files in the Windows 3.1 platform sitting on top of DOS 7 as it could corrupt files with long filenames. Jim Hawkins

I'm interested in this too, since my Animator Studio is on the way and I'm running Win95… There's a file in the Win95pre forum called "ole.exe" that is described as a fix for applications that get an error trying to paste an OLE object from a 16-bit application with "special characters in the filename." Is this worth trying? BTW. I asked my dealer to check if Animator Studio ran on Win95. An extract from his message on my voicemail: "We're pretty sure it will run on WIN95–it would be really stupid if they came out with a product at this time that didn't. AutoCAD works fine on WIN95."

Oral, << I've tried 4 seperate (Pentium) machines running NT 3.5, and 2 machines running the latest 95 beta, and NONE of them seem to want to run it. It actually COMPLETELY locks up NT. >> WOW! that sounds allmost as bad as getting OS/2 to work. Good Luck! Mark

Regarding Win NT, According to Till Kruger (Beta Site) he's running NT 3.51 no problem. You have to change the properties on the Animator Studio icon, so that it runs animator.exe instead of flash.exe. Microsoft will be shipping NT 3.51 this week.

"According to Till Kruger (Beta Site) he's running NT 3.51 no problem. You have to change the properties on the Animator Studio icon, so that it runs animator.exe instead of flash.exe." This was Mark Gerhard's message to you – however, we've had reports where sometimes 3.51 works with "animator.exe" and sometimes it doesn't. AAStudio wasn't made to be compatible with NT, but it's big on the wishlist.

Oral, Hi, I'm the product manager for Animator Studio and it's my first week up on CompuServe. I'm running through all the old messages and trying to respond to everybody. (good luck to me!) I've been told the Animator Studio will run on NT 3.51, if you change the properties of the icon, so it runs animator.exe instead of flash.exe. Here at Autodesk, we're working on a new version of AS that will run on Win 95 and NT, and it will be done quickly and available as a free upgrade. So pray no more, and stay tuned.

Hi Mark – Should I send you the friendly welcome to AMMEDIA message? <G> Nice to have you here especially with the questions on AS and NT. Anne

If you make AS run (like a champ) with Win95, you will be hero of the year.
#174421From: Christophe Van OyenJun 8, 1995 5:39 PM
Since you seem to be the product manager for AS. I would like to ask you a specific question: Please make the Personal Animation Recorder supported. So that we can read the files directly off it, just like Razor Pro does. I have tried it but it dloes not work, although TGA files are supported. I guess I'm not the only one who would like to see that happen. Christophe Van Oyen

"Personal Animation Recorder support" This is on the wishlist, and thanks for your request.
