I am still hoping that Autodesk will help those of us who took the plunge and are using the WIN95 Final Beta—– It would be nice to get some support or advice- I unnderstand you don't support unreleased OS, but with a half million plus users of this unreleased OS it kinda falls in a grey area don't you think. ———

The main issue that I've seen with Animator Studio is "How can it be a Windows Product and not support WIN95?" (and NT). This feedback is something that the powers that be are aware of.

> I am still hoping that Autodesk will help those of us who took the plunge and are using the WIN95 Final Beta So, tell me, are you successfully running AS under W95? I cancelled my order as soon as I started seeing msgs saying that it wouldn't and haven't seen any positive responses from people w/ it yet. thanks in advance -ej – Ernie Jackson, Written 18-May-1995 @ 07:57:06 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.6

Nope, from what I can see no one has gotten AS to run under either 95 or NT. Autodesk seems to be behind the times– Makes me wonder how 3D r5 will be when it finally comes out. If I were you I would wait until they got the bugs out of it and had it running running under what will soon be the the OS that will ship with every system you buy– or at the very least got it to run under NT–

Doug, Ernie and everyone else, Here's the scoop. Animator Studio runs on Win 3.1. There are some users that have gotten it to run on Win NT 3.51, (not 3.5) by running animator.exe instead of flash.exe. We are working feverishly (is it hot in here?) to complete a version of AS that runs on Win 95 and Win NT. We will have a version available in time for Win 95's release, and it will be a free upgrade. No charge. Before I came to Autodesk, I had no sympathy for software companies. Now I'm amazed that any company ships working software at all. You have no idea the work that goes into making a product run on a single operating system, let alone multiple OS's. Give usa chance, we'll give you what you want. –marK (product manager – Animator Studio

Mark Let me first thank you and commend you for your reply and information. A little response and update goes a long way. I do hope that you are successful with the NT and 95 conversion. I'm still a bit puzzled why the original choice was made to not make it a 32bit product. It seems that with 3D Studio being feverishily ported and WIN95 right around the corner that it was the logical choice. In the end it seems like there may have been a lot of wasted time and energy if you have to go back and re-write for what most serious animators will all be using in six months anyways. Can you fill us in on why it wasn't decided in the begininning? I probably don't sound very understanding, but actually it is more dissappointment and frustration. I like many others have made the move to NT- and final beta95- Autodesk seems to have even prompted many of us to do that with their announcement of Rel 5 ——- Well once again good luck and thanks for the update
