AS Future

First of all, let me say that the attitude of you (and Nik, and others) around
here have convinced me to go ahead and order AS. It won't do what I want it to
do (work on my full-screen TGA 3DS animations by adding effects and then going
to render in single frame mode) because everything needs to be in RAM, but I'm
hoping you guys will see that many of us need full-screen true color
capabilities and will eliminate this problem soon.
I don't think it was as big a mistake making this a Win 3.1 product as others
around here think — there are many of us not willing to make the jump to 95/NT
for quite some time, and it's nice to have this product available right now. I
do think the port is necessary, though, and obviously you guys do, too.
Also, I don't think your hardware requirements are unreasonable. Requiring at
least a 486/66 with a large swap file isn't onerous for most people doing 3DS
work.
Finally, I vote with everyone else in the world about a hardcopy manual.
However, I'd also like to say that, given a choice between extensive on-line
help (via a CD) and a hardbound manual, I'd chose the CD everytime. It's just
that I'd like to have both (our company just ordered a complete set of IBM docs
on CD that is MUCH more convenient than the same hard copy — not to mention
cheaper!).
