#Completing the package!

"I am just trying to get used to what results I get when changing the fit
shapes, scaling, swapping, refining, etc."
Niceley explained in the manuals, nothing cryptic about.
" I have many desktop publishing packages to create the artwork in. Fractal
Painter and Kai's Power Tools comes to mind first."
Fractal is what I use (btw the 3.1 update is out since about 3 weeks), it's the
best thing for bumb maps and textures. Corel is good to have too. Basically you
have everything it takes to do the calculator, it seems that you just don't
have a clue on how to use 3DS. That's why I said: " do the tutorials". This is
not to tick you off, it's just that you can not proficiently use 3DS unless you
know what you're doing. The tutorial and manual are a neccessity of life with
3DS until you "know it all".
I tried to do it the same way you're going about it (play first, then try the
manual only as a last resort <g>), but it was just an incredible waste of time.
Now that I do know the tool, the real playing around is possible (I can now
predict the outcomes instead of guesing them). If you like it or not, you'll
never become good without doing the neccessities first.
Enough rambling on, do it my way or else! 😉
