Install PARMCI/WIN 95
1 messages in this thread
Well, here's as far as I have been able to get with the PARMCI installation
under WIN 95.
1) Make sure the PAR is working under DOS and the PARINIT and PARDRV
lines
are in your autoexec.bat. A normal install will accomplish this.
2) Start WIN 95 and go to the Control Panel under Start/Settings.
3) Click: Add New Hardware. Follow the prompts asking you to click:
Next, until you
see a screen that has Sound, Video, Game Controllers on it. Click
on this line.
4) Click: Have Disk.
5) Click: Browse.
6) Go to your DPS directory where you should find: OEMSETUP.INF. Click
on it.
Click the next three OK's, and then click: Finish.
7) A DPS dialogue box should appear.
8) This is where I had some trouble, I was not able to edit anything in
this box. Not
that anyone told me I could.
9) Now go to Accessories/Multimedia/Media player.
10) Click on Media player and click open. Go to the PAR Drive and
see if you can see
the PAR .ANI files.
When I go to my PAR Drive to open an .ANI file, I see an exact copy of my C
Drive directory
structure. When I try to open a dir. The message "drive letter (yours will
vary) is not accessible.
If you want to get back to the DPS dialogue box:
1) Click on Control Panel (SEE #2 ABOVE).
2) Multimedia/Video/Advanced.
3) Media Control Devices.
4) MCI DPS Personal Animation Recorder.
5) Settings.
I couldn't do a thing with this dialogue box.
I bought my PAR back on 3/4/94 and maybe I need this chip I've heard about to
make it work.
I hope this helps those of you trying to get this driver working. If anyone has
any thoughts on
why the PAR Drive is mirroring my C Drive, let me know.
Good luck and on with the battle!!
