#Animating an Escalator

As James replied, there isn't any render time savings in instances. How much
ram do you have? Maybe paging to disk is what is causing long render times?
I will send you the .prj file in any case. It is a very simple example of how
to get object to follow each other around the same apparent path.
I made instances, then use Tracks/Copy with the absolute button on.
Then in Track Info, slide all tracks for the second instance one or two frames
ahead.
The .prj file will be called escala.prj
Good luck

Hi ya Ted,
Thank you for sending me the file.
BTW: Is there any way to select more than one object in the keyframer and
change info on them at one time? I screwed up last night and forgot the set
the "continuity" of my instance objects to zero and found myself doing a LOT OF
MOUSE CLICKS being that I had 35+ objects to change. It seams that this kind
of functionality would be useful with many other situations also.

OK, hope it helped, Al.
I can't think of a way offhand to change key info on multiple objects, but
maybe someone on the forum can jump in with a method.
Good luck

Your right!
That reminds me…..<g>. How about a keyscript that handles a series of
blinking strobe lights, i.e. landing lights. Maybe it hides and unhides
self-illum/non-self-illum objects and handles spotlights in unison?
No rush, Thanks<G>
