NEC Multisync 4D
15 messages in this thread
NEC Multisync 4D monitors have become relatively inexpensive these days.
Can anyone tell me what their horizontal sync rate range is and whether
this would be a good choice to use with an Amiga 4000? Thanks for any
feedback.

The NEC 4D is discontinued and has been replaced by the 5FG. It's scan
rates are 31.5 to 64KHz….allowing it to do a maximum resolution of
1280×1024 (XGA).
OK monitor if you don't use floppy boot programs….also won't allow to do
800×600 and preboot operations. (IE select boot device by holding mouse
buttons down).

Dave,
Thanks for the feedback on the 5FG — I know that it doesn't go below
31.5 kHz. I was hoping the the 4D, an older model, might go low enough to
handle all the AGA modes. Besides that, the fact that the 4D is
discontinued probably accounts for its current price of between $500 and
$600.

Darron,
For a list of some monitor that go down to 15 Khz see the file MONINF.LHA
here in the libs. The list included the MSRP.
Micheal,
Thanks for the suggestion — I'll check it out.

Nec hasn't mad a "True" Multi-Frequency monitor since the MultiSync II
model they had in the late 80's. I have a couple of them I got a bargain
basement prices mid '92.

Tony…
Want to sell one of your bargain Multisync II's?
Jonathan, via AutoPilot // Only Amiga makes
\\// it possible…
nope.
Didn't think so…:)
Tony,
Does this mean the 4D doesn't get down to 15 kHz? Shucks…

EXACTLY what it means…the file MONINF.LHA(or is it .lzh?) says the
PanaSync (Panasonic) C1391i goes down to 15 kHz…I have an OLD computer
shopper here, there's an ad for them for like $300, but the add says from
31kHz – 38kHz. which should I believe? the CS ad from the dealer? or the
MONINF.L?? file???? sheesh!
Tony
The C1381 is 31.5kHz-38kHz. The C1391 will scan down to 15.75kHz.
hmmm…there's some *CHEAP* prices on the C1391i lately! interesting.
thanks for the tip!
make sure you check with a dealer about the 1391i & 15.5kHz before you
buy. I only own the 1381, and am only going by the specs I _read_ on the
1391.
Tony — I sympathize….
