Can anyone recommend a utility for Windows or DOS to convert FLC/FLIs to MPEG-1. I would like to put them on my WWW page in that form. Thanks, Jim Hawkins

Dave, I just tried GRAPHDEV and GRAPHSUP. I also did a general search. The only tool I have found to compress MPEG is CMPEG which converts individual TGA files to MPEG. I used Animator studio to save an FLI animation to individual TGAs then tried it and it worked, however, I wasn't happy with the aspect ration, so I changed the size from 320X200 to 320X240 and saved the TGAs (took up 120Meg by the way). CMPEG created a corrupt MPEG. It also would not work at all for 640X480 TGAs. Jim

Hi Dave, Mpeged does not read flic files. VFD decodes MPEGS. I have that tool. I am surprized at the relative dearth of tools for MPEG. Jim

I am surprized at the relative dearth of tools for MPEG. << ah shucks, Wally. <g> it's still a fairly new format, considering the longevity of other "movie" formats out there. have you posted this as a wishlist item for AAStudio? also, MPEGED may not have read flic files, but you can bust up flics into individual images per frame… does MPEGED have assemble capability? (haven't used it myself) -dave

Jim, I use CMPEG to convert 3DS created TGA's (uncompressed at 352x240x.89) with good results. However, I haven't had any luck converting TGA's from Animator Studio. Call CeQuadrat at 415/715-5610. They have a Windows product called Pixelshrink that's supposed to convert FLC/FLI files to MPEG. Good luck. – Steve Ormonde
