I am a MM dealer. A customer has requested if it is possible to load 3ds mesh and material data into an SGI formal called .flt? They also mentioned an SGI program called Performer which I've never heard of. Could they mean Inventer? Any help would be appreciated. Rick

Could they mean Inventer?>> Most of the SGI programs will read a DXF or IGES file, but that doesn't maintain the Material and light and animation definitions. I am not aware of any utilities that will read the original 3DS file, but I admit I am not as familiar with other SGI programs. -Bran

Rick, you should contact Syndesis Corp., in Jefferson WI (sorry I have no tel. #). They make a conversion program that goes at the least from Alias model to 3DS model. It may go the other way as well. Eric Chadwick Mechaeus
