Subject: ATI Graphics Pro Turbo SLOW Start R4 To: Nik Grant [ADESK] 70421,76 Nik, I read your reply to someone with an ATI Graphics Pro Turbo problem a few days ago and thought you'd be the best person for this question. I just replaced a 1 M DRAM Diamond Speedstar Pro with the 2M VRAM Pro Turbo model on a 486/66 with 36M. 3DS 4 started in under 10 seconds with the Diamond card but the ATI is taking over 60 seconds. We're using Vibrant's 1.0.6 P4 driver (also tried 1.0.5). How can we make it go VAROOM off the line like all good VRAM should?. John Barrett 70062,3402

Hi John, Sorry you're having a problem with the slower load. Can you check your mail and see if that helps? I've sent a file for you to try out. Thanks.

Look for ANTIVE.ZIP out in the library. Vibrant is evidently initializing the card the way ATI told them it ought to be done. Unfortunately, this way seems to make a whole passel of VESA calls, which severely slows things down. This program is a TSR that disables the VESA calls and speeds things right back up. LAM
