>FYI, the ASOFT party will be on Sunday night at the Biltmore. It would be nice if you could make it. Gosh, I feel welcome! But now I feel ignorant — I've been on this forum for three years, used the product for that time, and I don't think I understand what ASOFT is. Is that an Autodesk party, as opposed to a 3DS type party on Tuesday? So, it seems that I want to fly in on Sunday (for the party), and stay until Wednesday night (making the Tuesday and Wednesday exhibits and the Tuesday party). Does this sound like a plan? (I really can't take more than three days off work or my team will have a heart attack).

You *should* feel welcome, Mike, you've certainly been around long enough! ASOFT (Autodesk SOFTware) is/was the original name for this forum (which is still being used by some old die-hards like myself). The original concept was to augment the larger, more formal Adesk party with a bit more intimate and informal version (held on another night) announced here on the forum. This way, if you were a 3DS user on the forum, you'd automatically be aware of the party and hopefully make arrangements to attend. Folks who have spoken together and helped each other here throughout the year get a chance to meet each other face-to-face in a friendly, informal atmosphere, and have fun anticipating what news Siggraph will bring of our common obsession, 3DS! This is in no way meant to exclude the remainder of the 3DS community. Certainly, _anyone_ interested in 3DS (or just anyone who thinks it might be interesting to watch a bunch of 3D geeks go on about what they love) who hears about the party is welcome to come by (it _is_ being held in public place, after all!). Tell your team to go easy on the nitro pills, Mike. Your travel plans sound great. See you there, -Alan

Alan and Everyone on this thread…. It was great to have you all visit FL last year….and I look forward to LA this year. On the subject of parties…it is a tradition that the the local chapters booth at each siggraph convention maintains a database of all parties. Feel free to visit the Siggraph Professional Chapters Booth and check out the where and when of all parties…. Hope to see you all there…. I still use ASOFT, and it shows up under my Golden Compass title bar as that… What is the 'official' name? JimmyG PS. We have talked for years about doing some musical stuff at Siggraph… Are we going to act on it this time?

Hi Jim, howzit goin'? Jumped from Big Blue to King Klone, eh?<g> I believe the new name for this forum is AMMEDIA — someone correct me if I'm wrong there… Due to the voice/communication orientation of the ASOFT party, we felt live music would be too much of a distraction for this "event". The later part of the Adesk party seemed much more appropriate, but nothing is nailed down as yet. We're working on it… See you soon, -Alan

> Jumped from Big Blue to King Klone, eh?<g> Yup. Right after we shipped Warp. I'm now managing Software Development for the Portable Division. Most of my graphics work is now done at home… Thanks for the update, I'll see you at the show. JimmyG

Jimmy – The ASOFT name is officially now AMMEDIA. ASOFT still works though and maye CIS will forget to take it off the roster and leave it <G> Anne
