#animate light intensity?

i'm working on an animation in which an object (a violin) appears fully lit in the foreground while it's surroundings (a room) gradually gets brighter and brighter, as if someone is turning up a dimmer switch… since i can't change the lights' intensity over time, i'm having trouble getting a decent effect… changing the lights' color (from black to their "final" colors) over time doesn't seem to be working well either… could anyone offer any suggestions?… slowly moving the lights into their desired locations doesn't work, because i end up with an unwanted "sunrise/sunset" illusion… by the way, i'm using Rel 3, if that makes a difference… thanks… … joe

Try 2 seperate scenes, one with just the violin lit and the other with the full room lit and do a slow cross fade between them. – Steve Ormonde

Hi Joe, Set the Luminance value for the light you are lighting the scene with to 0 at the beginning of your animation, then set it to 255, or whatever your ending values should be (all of this in the Keyframer, by the way). Then adjust that light to exclude the violin object(s). Set the light illuminating the violin to exclude everything else. That should do it, I think. Best Regards, Brandon DesignTec
