I would like to know how to evade seeing the triangulation of a surface whose perimeter has curves when patterns or texture are applied. For example, I created a floorslab with a semicircular cut-out for a spiral staircase, using a box and a cylinder and boolean subtraction. The surface, which should be tiled, shows the triangular faces created by the surface mesh. I also tried creating the form through 2d Shaper, by importing a meshform from Autocad 12 and 13, and of course all produce exactly the same surface problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Muller or is it Denis? The surface giving you trouble is the floor plane, right? I would try selecting just those faces and detaching them to a new object. Perhaps unifying the normals will get things back to normal so to speak. You may be able to render two-sided and get decent results but you pay a bit of time penalty in the render stage. Your description of "importing a meshform" into the Shaper seems curious. If you import a 2D outline of the shape into the Shaper and then extrude that shape in the Lofter you should be all set. Bob

Denis Here are a few things to look for. Try Surface/Smoothing/AutoSmooth Make sure the material was created with Phong set on. Make sure you render with Gouraud or higher. I would create a object like that by bringing the 2 shapes directly into the 3D Editor with Create/Object/Get Shape, by the way. Hope that helps. TedB -Ted Boardman !^NavFont01F0006MGHHHT7D78
