Your friend probably wants something very simple and easy to use, rather than the most powerful ones that automatically print books. But most of the genealogy software depends on all people in the database being related to each other in some way. Is that what he would want? There is a whole library here for MSDOS genealogical software, and you might like to take a look through it. One of the nicest little programs I've used was Family Origins for Windows, from Parsons – so you know it is inexpensive, and is supported in the Parsons forum on CIS. Probably the most powerful program available is The Master Genealogist (has a vendor area on GENSUP Forum.) Nearly every computer store has Family Tree Maker, and it is also quite nice. The choices are almost endless, and very personal! I wish I had records of all my relatives who have been buried from the North Little Rock Funeral Home. I must have about 50 of their funeral cards, and I know that I don't have nearly all of them. Your friend is doing a great service. We will all want to be helpful.
