#RAM upgrade
2 messages in this thread
This interference is terrible! Hope this thing is legible! Does anyone know
if it makes a difference in how much factory RAM I have in my M100 when I want
to install non-Radio Shack RAM chips? I don't know if it makes a
difference…..will I get more AM if I have a 24K versus an 8K memory? I hear
you can get up to 96K RAM usable memory in the M100 with non-Radio Shack
chips…..if this just wishful thinking? Please advise so I can make a
decision. Also…..is the Radio Shack 'blue carrying bag' any
good…..value-wise, or is it overpriced junk?

Jim:
There are two separate steps involved. First the basic Model 100 needs
to be upgraded to 32K which is the MAXIMUM possible. That is done by installing
8K chips which may be bought for $25 to $125 each depending on how bought.
Second, you may install 32K or 64K expansion units which get tucked
into the slot on your Model 100's fanny. With them you get some sort of bank
switching system to bounce from bank to bank. At NO time will you be able to
access more than 29K at one time.
SIGing the 100 way …
