#PARALLEL CABLE

Jeff,
I don't know what kind of "standard" cable you bought, as the standard Amiga
paralell cables are available from most dealers and need no modification.
I'm afraid the only thing to do is to look at the pinout and signal names for
whatever machine the cable was for, and try to match those with the Amiga's
pinout. If you post the pinouts for the other machine here, there may be some
members who can help you configure it to standard.
Regards, Larry.
Here are the pinouts for the Panasonic HV-P1080i printer: 1-STROBE 2-9 – DATA
1-8 10- ACK 11 BUSY 12-PE 13- SLCT 14-AUTO FEED XT 16-SG 17-FG 18- +5V (output)
31-PRIME 32 ERROR 33-SG
In comparing these with the Amiga pinouts (assuming STROBE is Data Ready, which
I believe it is) major difference is pin 18 (+5V).
Hope somebody can help me configure this cable so I don't have to buy another!
Thanks..
Jeff,
The pinouts I was referring to are the ones for the CPU to which your cable
would have been attached.
I see that pin 14 is Auto-feed , which means that the printer follows the IBM
convention of using pin 14 to add a linefeed. This one should be cut, as the
Amiga is smart enough to send line feeds if it needs them.
Pins 31 and 32 I don't know abou, and since the parallel port is only 25
pins, it's hard to say where they are connected. The +5V on pin 18 should also
be disconnected.
Are all pins numbered 25 and below connected to the same number on the Amiga
end?
Regards, Larry.
