What follows is not a review but my own thoughts after spending more than
a month with a product from Cltd called Timesaver.
The only reason for bringing this message to the forum is to save time, money
and aggravation to any interesting forum members. If you are not one of those
please press CTRL-O now, so you can skip the rest of the message.
People from this forum that have followed my past messages should recall
that in the past I have flamed Cltd due to their consistent and biased
writings towards other competing companies. I have also flamed other
forum members for their biased opinions towards Cltd products. (I may have
been wrong to some, correct on others).
BUT always, my comments served (at least in my mind), one sole purpose.
To help, be helped and to make some hardware or software information
known to Amiga members.
One of my past messages also flamed Byte by Byte for their old PALjr. My hat
is off to them cause after the re-design, the PALjr. offers the best value
for expansion hardware for the Amiga 1000 (and I expect this to continue for
the 2000 also).
Some of the forum members have said that I am biased towards
ASDG/Perry Kivolowitz (sorry perry if I misspelled it). I will say this, once
and for all. I am biased towards reliable,technically advanced, and price
conscious, hardware and software for MY Amiga (you may think otherwise),
and have absolutely no association with ASDG or Perry.
With all that out of my head lets go on….
I purchased the Timesaver about one month ago from my local dealer at the
retail value of $79.95.
Timesaver is packaged in a cheap plastic case that has 2 hand-drilled
holes for the keyboard connectors. The bottom is separated from the case
and only 2 MELTED!! bended points hold the 2 pieces together. The size of the
case (at least on mine) is smaller than the pc board so the bottom piece
where the actual pc board is screwed couldn't stay on. So I took the top off.
My current Amiga1000 has the following hardware hooked up:
Amiga 1000, Insider, A-Time, 2Meg Starboard, Genlock, Xebec-Hard Drive
