The manual due to the way is packaged and written is one of the hardest to read. Mine was even stapled inside out. Well, even though the picture in the manual shows that you should be able to use the Timesaver with Genlock, the cable was so short that it would not reach the connector from its place with Genlock attached. Also a 2" piece of double stick tape was missing from my package. A quick visit to the local Radio Shack solved that problem. While I was there I also bought a longer telephone cord so to be able to use the Timesaver with my Genlock. Now at this point in the manual, there is this big Warning: Reversing the IN and OUT cables can be fatal to TimeSaver. What that warning should read though is this: Due to a fatal Cltd ENGINEERING ERROR you can only use this SHORT!! custom NON!! standard keyboard cable at the OUT port. As you can tell the electronics were fried!! Finally I got the hardware hooked up. Now lets go to the software part. (That's why I bought the damn thing in the first place, right??). I remember reading at the release info that Cltd left here, that you would be able to interact with the Amiga (Like save macros on disk and then re-load them. What is this?? False Advertising??) I also read that "It takes no ports unlike others that plug in the parallel, mouse ports etc.". If you hit the Help + any function key and then you move to another application (multitasking, remember), Timesaver will take all your input until you exit with the help key. Cltd can find themselves in trouble because A-Time which not only takes NO! ports, It also never blocks output TO the parallel port (even when its active.). But again I don't print as much as I use my keyboard and I don't want anyone telling me what to type. They even suggest to software developers NOT! to use the help key cause it could mess up their software. I'll say that if everyone used the help key as Online, Scribble Analyze and all Aegis programs do, it will make the Amiga even more user friendly than already is. <Continued…2 of 4>
