Need MAC 800K Floppy Drive I'm looking for a used 800K MAC floppy drive for use with MAC-2-DOS. Is anyone selling one? If not, does anyone have a source for 800K MAC drives at a reasonable price? Is there anything else I should know about MAC drives before buying one for MAC-2-DOS? Thanks. Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

I bought a refurb 800K Mac external floppy for $109 last week, to use with my Amax, and it comes with a 120-day warranty. I got it from: Shreve Systems 1-800-227-3971 Ask for Terry. mine works FANTASTIC so far! I'm VERY pleased! Tony post

Tony: Did you get your HD flying with AMax yet? If so, how's it working out? // -Mike Schiller \X/ AMIGA! On AutoPilot in sunny Fort Lauderdale

Kinda'..System 7 doesn't work on mine, so i'm gonna get System 6.x.x today from my buddy, with the Apple Dealer. He gave me a few programs to try. Older version of Excel, older version of TypeStyler, etc…I just wanted to take a look at some of the Comm. Mac software. Still trying to figure out why the System 7 won't work. Trying to reach another person, to ask him what he did to get his to work. Mebbe i'll be able to reach him today Lator, Gator Tony ———–> Flying via OS/2 2.0, 'cauze I know ————> ————-> in my sleep how to run this comm prog ———–>

Tony, Thanks for the MAC drive info. I appreciate it. Will a Cutting Edge MAC drive work with MAC-2-DOS, or does it have to be an actual Apple MAC drive? Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Dom, I use a Cutting Edge drive and originally only with MAC 2 DOS, now I use it with AMAX II. It worked OK with MAC2DOS. Chris

Chris, Thanks for the Cutting Edge/MAC-2-DOS info. I got a great deal on one, but wanted to verify its compatibility first. Thanks again. Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Dom, I use a cutting edge at home with my AmaxII and a real Mac drive at work with Mac2Dos. The Cutting Edge has been reliable but the real Mac drive is sturdier and faster. If it's only a few bucks difference and you haven't already gotten the Cutting Edge, I'ld go for a real Mac drive. -Richard

Richard, Thanks for the info, but I'm already getting the Cutting Edge. A number of people have said it works fine with Mac-2-Dos, plus I got it for $50. I also won't be using it that much, so the CE drive should be fine. Thanks for your input. Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>

Exsel Incorporated has "piles" of the Mac 800k drives (used). I got mine from them for about $100.00. Phone is (716) 272-8770, in Rochester, New York. I'm sure you can mail order it and use your credit card. Good luck!

David, Thanks for the MAC drive info. I appreciate it. Do you know if you need an actual Apple MAC drive with MAC-2-DOS, or if a Cutting Edge MAC drive will work just as well? Dom Fontana <– Sent from New York via AutoPilot –>
