Don, I wholeheartedly agree with what you have said. I started out with a TRS-80 model-I back around '78/79. Although I took the computer seriously, and wrote most of my own software, most people I knew were playing games. (almost nothing else was available) I eventually upgraded to a MS-Dos machine, just before IBM came out with their PC. Again I had to write my own software. Almost instantly after the IBM-PC's introduction, I found all the software I had longed for. Some wouldn't run on my machine however because of the hardware requirements IBM purposely built into the version of MS-Dos they called PC-Dos. (new interrupt vectors (KB, disk-i/o, video)) I know for a fact that there was a terrible shortage of useful software before the IBM PC, and I must give IBM some credit for what I have now. (even thou I never owned one of their computers. Even thou I dislike the company & their products) They set the software world on fire. They made being a small independent software company profitable. We would not be as far along today, if the IBM-PC had not been here. Those 3 initials are what did this. It wasn't the PC. It was, and still is, a bad excuse for a computer. Dale
