#Hello

Hello to all you artists! I am a programmer that is always interested in
hearing what the artist wants to see the Amiga doing. It is somewhat
unfortunate that the tech and arts are separate, but I will be checking in here
often to see what's up. —Mike
Mike, back in the early days of the split, many people sat about and discussed
how to do it. All the plans had real and perceived flaws. The arts/technical
split was the best compromise we were able to develop. I think it's going to
work out pretty well once we all get used to it. As for your favorite subjects
being split, well… you can always join AmigaTech. 8) AND, very soon you'll
likely have access (no pun intended) to a program that will allow you to deal
with both (or all three) forums with as little effort (heck, less) as you used
to use in the AmigaForum proper.
Welcome aboard!
Rick
Does this imply a program like TAPCIS or Navigator for the Amiga is due out
soon? By whom? I'd certainly be interested, although for SYSOP things I
suspect I'd still have to handle it manually…

See WHAP.ARC in Lib 16 of AmigaTech.
Now that's what I call service… <grin>

Soon? How about now? 8)
Rick
I guess that is soon enough… <grin>

Rick,
I'm sure it will all work out for the best. BTW, I *enjoy*
telecommunicating, and wouldn't even consider automating the process. 8)

Trust me: if you enjoy telecommunicating now, you'll LOVE it when using Whap!.
Definitely grab a copy of this program and try it. It takes a bit of effort
setting up, but it's well worth the effort. Not only will you enjoy your
electronic travels more, they will cost you less. Do it!
Rick
Rick,
OK, OK, I'll take a look at Whap. Do you get a commission? 8) —MIke
Absolutely, positively, NADA. 8)
Rick
Richard,
I've just gotten Whap! and I'm trying to understand it but I have to
set CIS up with things like no pause after each message etc, right? Besides
putting all the files in the right dirs what else do I do? BTW I used to go
right to Amigaforum and now I get C= top page How do I change it to go to one
of the Amiga forums now? Thanks,
Chris
Chris,
Slip over to AmigaTech and ask. *THE* place to talk about Whap! is on that
side of the fence; the author lives there, and they even have a section devoted
to the program. Comments are flying fast and furious right now since it's just
been released, so just reading all the stuff in that section may be enough to
get you going!
Whap! does most of the setup itself, there are only a few things you need to
set up personally, and this is detailed in the documentation. Sorry, I don't
know which ones they are; again, ask in the Whap! section in AmigaTech.
If you're typing GO AMIGAFORUM the C= top page is exactly where you're going to
end up; AmigaForum is now an umbrella name for all three new forums. What you
need to do is go directly to the forum you want. Since the names can be
abbreviated to six letters, you can shorten it to GO AMIGAA (here, Arts), GO
AMIGAT (Tech), and GO AMIGAV (Vendors). Similarly, when you set up your Whap!
parameters you'll want an entry for each Amiga forum in which you are
interested.
Hope this helps.
Rick
