I'm looking for memory expansion for my A1000, currently at 512K. I'd like something with 2 megs, expandable to 8 megs, maybe with a clock. If anyone has a suggestion, please give details, like price, reliability, and other features. Thanks, Chip

I strongly recommend the StarBoard2 from Microbotics. It will go in 512K, 1 meg, or 2 meg, and has a "multifunction module" and "scsi controller" options. The multifunction module allows the entire StarBoard2 to be write-protected for a mega-big (and mega-safe) ramdisk, and the addition of a math-coprocessor. The entire StarBoard2 can be put into an Amiga 2000 later by taking the plastic case off and buying a relatively inexpensive adaptor from them. The documentation is also fairly good.

I also recommend SB2. I wrote the test program for it, and Redmond's folks have done a nice job. You can add a "MultiFunction Module" and have 68881 support, warm-boot survivable RAM disk (JD0:), parity error support, or put a SCSI hard disk port in place of the MultiFunction Module. Neat! Oh, and it passes the expansion bus through. MicroBotics also makes an adapter that will allow you to install your SB2 into an A2000, if you decide to move up. [O O] Rick Stevens ? V
