#Whap problems

I've just starting using WHAP! and am having a little trouble. I'm using WHAP!
1.2D and Access!1.30a and everything seems fine when I first log on. I can see
WHAP! going thru and setting my DEFAULTS. All goes well until it types G EASY.
CIS sends me the message telling me all about EASYPLEX and then ask me if I
want more information Y or N. WHAP seems to start sending commands like SET
PAGE OFF, etc. CIS keeps asking me if I want more information Y or N. WHAP
keeps sending more commands. Finally I again get the Y or N prompt and after
waiting about 15 sec. for WHAP to respond, I clicked in the window and typed N.
This takes me to the EASYPLEX prompt and the "no messages pending" message.
Still nothing more from WHAP. I typed OFF and CIS signed off. I then clicked on
the ABORT gadget and in the second or so before the screen changes I can see
WHAP trying to send the EASYPLEX message to you.
I have deleted the T2400 file and tried this 3 times with exactly the same
results. Any ideas?

You've found something I totally forgot about. It's easily resolved,
though.
If you have never used EasyPlex on your current user id, you will get
that message every time you go to EasyPlex. Whap! doesn't account for it.
Write an email to yourself. Wait about 5-10 minutes then go read and delete
the email. If you are asked the question again, answer no. After you've sent
and read an email the question will never again show itself. THEN (again)
delete your T2400 file and have Whap! go through its paces.

I'm not sure that will solve the problem, Jim. At least not the way you
described it.
The way it was explained to me, the EasyPlex program checks to see if you have
an address book. If you don't, it assumes you are a new user and gives you all
the "Welcome to EasyPlex" garf. So, sending a 'plex to yourself won't make any
difference, if this is indeed the case.
What one must do, instead, is to create an address book. This can be done
quite simply with your method: send yourself (or anyone else) an EasyPlex. The
system will ask you for your name. Once you give it, it will ask if you want
this to become your EasyPlex name for future use. THIS is the crucial
question: answer yes, and it will never prompt you again, AND create your
address book.
All this is predicated on that explanation of how EasyPlex works; if it's off,
this is all wet. But I thought I should mention it.

More investigation is necessary then. You're theory is incorrect. I
deleted my address book and the message never appeared. The only time I
personally have seen the message is on a new account when email has never been
used or on an old account when you request a new password from CompuServe.

Aha. Well, it's not my theory, as I mentioned; it came up in school a couple
of weeks ago and, since I'd never tested it, I only assumed it was correct.
As long as your procedure works, that's all that matters.

I think Rick is right. Even though you deleted your address book, you ppn did
have one at some time. 73, bill
