#Upgrade Offer
4 messages in this thread
If anyone from C/A is out there listening, I feel that A1000 users ought to
retain some serious upgrade policy. The 2000 upgrade period coincided with the
financial burden of my first child. I was very upset to learn that C/A felt
that any 1000 user who wanted a 2000 would be able to swing it almost
immediately.
Perhaps I could have pulled it off if my VISA card had arrived before Feb., but
I never got a realistic chance at it, from my point of view I'd be willing to
bet that there are plenty of A1000 owners who are upset by the narrow window
C/A "provided". Right now, I've stopped recommending the Amiga, and whether or
not I end up replacing it with a different machine depends on theattitude of
C/A.
Sinse I make my living by such recommendations, this means I'm serious.
Anyone else have a view?
Charlie,
It sure would be nice… I agree. The facts as I know them are that
C-A was experimenting with the trade in program and judging by the new trade-in
program, I'd have to say it went well.
Have you checked to see what your dealer can do for you on a trade-in?
It probably won't be $1000… but then again A2K's have dropped at least a
couple of hundred dollar (street price) from the days oQ!e trade.

ps. What can't you do with your A1000 that you need to do?
Add my name to the list of folks who would appreciate a repeat of the earlier
1000 upgrade. It's true that, at the moment, the 1000 does everything I need it
to do, but I keep hearing of neat 2000 boards in the offing that I'd have to
add an external box to use. But I'm in no real hurry. (Although I can't see
waiting for the 'rumored' 3000.)
I will not go nearly so far as to boycott CBM or trade the 1000 on
another machine (gak – the others pale) to protest. That's not in my interest.
I'd LIKE another juicy upgrade offer, but I recognize that that's entirely
dependant on CBM's good graces (and their perception of profitability).

Steve,
Right…I ran an HD that way for quite a while (running a cable and
power feeds out the back). I also had the drive unmounted in any case, so
yes…it does work just fine.
