#New, More Advertising

Andre,
IBM has said that they will competitor-bash, Apple does it regularly, BOTH have
better image than Commodore does, so better advertising is a MUST. The more,
and better, the better.

Advertising is a must. The other companies have their names as recognition
symbols, we do not (yet).
Again, it is not necessary to do a smear campaign when you have a product that
is valid on its own rights. Or do you believe that the Amiga cannot stand on
its merits? (Ah Rhetoric!) andre
This may sound cynical but I think that a smear campaign would work very
well, at least in the United States. The perfect example is George Bush
attacking Michael Dukakis. That was a smear campaign and the country fell for
it %^>. Of course, Duke wasn't perfect either.

Ethan,
Political smear campaigns are just that….political. Selling products
are an entirely different matter…and smear campaigns have been known to do
less than no advertising at all.
I believe Andre is right…you allow the product to stand on it's own
two feet (or 4 or whatever).

And it was that stupid zillion dollar commercial during prime-time football
that opened people's primitive brain responses to the idea of the Apple
Macintosh, even if the commercial itself sold no computers.

Now Andre, unless you want to swap to asbestos undies, let's avoid rhetoric.
It's best left to MAC lovers, anyway <grin>. No, the name recognition has to
come from the recognition of the Amiga as a machine being used for serious
computing work, not just games. Networking, the 3000, 1.4, Unix, HDTV
compatibility (ok, blue-sky dreamin', so what?) are the keys that will prove
that the Amiga is (and by credit-by-association, the rest of Commodore's
computers are) cutting edge within their niches.
WIll it happen? I dunno? Do you, big A?
