What is a good source for reference on using the serial port. I am not enjoying reading source code to try to figure it out.

Patrick, One of the best sources for information on any of the Amiga devices is probably Eugene P. Mortimore's "Amiga Programmer's Handbook" Vol. II. (and of course the ROM Kernal Manuals). Keith
