Does there actually exist a Clock Virus? I though that was all hogwash and then
my clock stopped (A-2000). A program called ClkDoctor V2.0 set things right
again. Does anyone know anything about this thing ie is it a virus? and how
does it propogate if it is. Or do A-2000 clocks just stop sometimes and this
program starts it up again? Last I hear there was no Clock Virus.

There is no virus that can live inside the clock, and to my knowledge
there is no virus that messes with the clock.
Did your system crash right before this started to happen? I was
working something yesterday that gave quite a spectacular crash (all kinds of
wavy lines on the screen, weird noises from the speakers, and strange noises
from the external drive), and when I rebooted the clock was wiped out.
The Workbench "Setclock" program will reinstate your clock too.

There is no clock virus. There is no RAM in the clock in which to store a
virus, so there isn't one.
There is a bit in the clock that sometimes gets flipped, causing the clock to
stop. For some reason, the 1.3 SetClock does not reset this bit reliably. Run
SetClock from 1.2 and it will probably be fine again. If not, there are
several programs in the libraries that will restart it for you. I believe
there is a new one in Lib1, even.

Well that's what I thought. I did experience some spectacular crashes while
playing with a program I've been working on (coping image data into unallocated
memory and whatnot). I did stumble across some similar information while
browsing through the (Tah Dah!-) AmigaDOS users manual. I know, read first and
THEN yell for help… Thanks, Rick Barrett
