Hi Ron,well I don't have to buy the A2090a,but in order to get a tax
exemption,I need to buy most of what I want at the one time,as there involves a
bit of messing around later(also a better deal on buying it together!).
A SCSI tape drive will probably happen after about 12 months,and hopefully by
that time,there will/should be an upgrade to the 2090a (fingers crossed !!)

Judging from what I've seen so far, while the 2091? may come out when you
expect it to, it may turn out that you have to 'eat' the 2090a that you would
already have. Good luck!

I am interested in just that… I have a 150Meg Wangtek QIC deck that I would
like to run on the A2000/A2090A, but have no idea how to get at an
"SCSI.DEVICE". I know that there is a harddisk.device, but how do I get to the
scsc itself, so that I can work on a handler for the tape?
Please pardon me for jumping into this thread like this if my question sounds
silly. I haven't connected to CIS for a couple of months, and may have asked
something that has already been answered previously.

You are correct, this has been discussed at great length. I started
this thread about two weeks ago wondering if anyone has had any success with a
SCSI tape drive on the A2090/A2090A controllers. Nope, happens that there is a
bug in the hddisk.device driver that does not let the SCSIDirect feature work
properly. I have a Archive QIC drive and could not get anything to work
properly. If you have Lattice C or Manx C look for the .h file called
scsidisk.h. It describes the SCSIDirect feature. If you should manage to get
something to work or just want some sample code, drop me a line and I'll upload
the code fragments for you…

I'd appreciate anything that you can give me as examples of where you've
made it at this point. I'm still waiting for a manual on the Wangtek that I
ordered recently. I *do* have both Lattice 5.02 and Manx 3.6a. Also, if you
have come up with any observations (pitfalls etc.) please let me know (Is it
safe to do my development work on my hard-drive? 😉 )
