I do seem to be having a problem with my amiga 500. I can't seem to type!
My Caps Lock light blinks, and everything else runs fine, but I can't type
an any of the lettered keys. I can do a reset fine, but I can not type any
other way. The mouse and Joystick work fine. What's up?

one of two things happened. (1) you blew one of your 8520 chips, in
which case, swap them to confirm that it is a problem (problem should move
to the serial ports, I think) or (2) you more than likely have a blown chip
in the keyboard section (specifically the microprocessor/controller there).
The second case sounds more likely since you seem to be able to do a C-A-A
reboot just fine. Hope this helps.

In the 500, the C-A-A is wired differently from other machines – it is a
direct hardware action in the 500, but depends on software in the others, I
believe, but I'm not sure of all the intricate details.
