#UPS help
5 messages in this thread
I'd like to hear from anyone who is using a UPS (Uninterruptible Power
Supply) with their Amiga. I am looking for one that would keep 2 A2000's
and 1 Monitor going during brownouts and power glitches. I'm not really
looking for long term backup, just 10 or 15 minutes at most to allow an
orderly shutdown and react fast enough to get thru a momentary glitch.
Thanks, Greg

If you call them Marie will FAX you the specs. or mail them to you.
I know her name because I called for the info, I'm not an employee of the
company nor do I endorse the product, since I haven't bought one yet. The
output is a modified square wave.

Greg– I have DataShield 300 Watt UPS and it works well. It is a standby
power unit as opposed to a continuous UPS. For situations where brownouts
are a way of life, a good unit to get would be the TrippLite OmniPower. It
combines a standby UPS with a constant voltage transformer. They have 2
sizes: 400 and 1200 watt. One of these days I plan to sell my UPS and get
the OmniPower 1200 watt unit (it costs approx $750), but so far I don't
have any direct experience with it.
It gives you a nice feeling to keep right on working when the power drops
out momentarily.

Thanks for the quick info, Tom. I appreciate it.
