As a matter of fact I didn't have trouble uncrunching .arc, .lzh or .zoo
files the first time.
Thanks for writing out the instructions to unpack a .wrp file. Worked. But
if you read my note to Betty of 7/6 you will see tht I already did all that
(yuh … about your "and read it" comment). What I didn't mention was that
I use the ram disk in place of the boot disk to establish an intrinsic DOS.
My custom startup-sequence copies an abridged set of commands from sys: to
the ram disk and reASSIGNs sys:c to Ram:c, etc. Seems the problem was WARP
tried to find an external reference that didn't exist in the defined path.
Using your method for UNWARP still doesn't work for me. The drive never
stops after the prompt to put the blank disk in DF0.
I didn't upgrade to 1.3 when it first came out because I read (and was also
recently told by an Amiga dealer) that it was only worth buying if one had
a hard disk, to take advantage of the fast file system. More recently I've
read some things that make me think that was bad advice. I was going to buy
it last fall but heard 1.4 would be out soon. So I waited. When it (or
2.0?) is released I will upgrade.
Where did you read that?
And what dealer told you the same thing?
BTW, if you have 1.3, you can use FFS on a floppy, get an upgraded CLI, and
other stuff too numerous to mention.
In addition, most of the new D/Ls here are for 1.3.
If you have an A1000, good luck on 2.0 (unless you buy the Rejuvenator
[Greg, can I get a free one with enough plugs?]).

I owe you an apology — I was "under the influence" when I posted
those WARPed (;-) instructions. That was the first time I had done that
(and hopefully the LAST time!)
What I wanted to do was to provide a "simpler" set of instructions
-without a lot of pathing information. Sometimes I think the VERY thorough
instructions that the sysops provide can be overwhelming. "Cain't see the
forest…"
What WASN"T needed was the snotty editorializing. Yeah, I would
probably agree that you received bad advice (about upgrading to 1.3). The
problems that I was suggesting might appear are for those of us who use a
lot of PD/shareware. Not every "developer" has access to all the
variations of hardware/OS software to be able to test their creations; some
fine stuff comes off of systems just like yours!
GLAD you were able to make things work! BTW, I keep my 1000 handy,
and have AmigaDOS v1.1, 1.2, 1.3, (and 1.3.2). If you have problems you
think are OS specific, I can KickStart any of those for a test!
